About the position

Larson Design Group (LDG) is an award-winning, employee-owned Architecture, Engineering, and Consulting Firm. We are expanding our team and looking for a Senior Architectural Designer who will play a crucial role in delivering innovative architectural solutions to our clients. This position requires a deep understanding of architectural principles and the ability to work autonomously on various projects. The Senior Architectural Designer will be responsible for applying intermediate to advanced architectural principles to complete design computations, prepare written technical reports, and create design plans and details. The role demands a high level of expertise in the use of required software and the ability to make significant project decisions with minimal supervision from senior staff. In this role, the Senior Architectural Designer will be expected to write specifications, review submittals, and coordinate project submissions while maintaining effective communication with clients. The designer will also coordinate the preparation of advanced multi-discipline drawing sets, ensuring that all technical, administrative, and design staff are aligned. A strong emphasis will be placed on quality assurance and quality control processes to enhance the quality of deliverables and minimize design errors. The designer will research and understand code compliance requirements for assigned projects and will be capable of independently creating standard details under the guidance of a supervisor. Additionally, the role involves assisting with design calculations, reviewing technical specifications, and preparing cost estimates. Responsibilities

  • Writes specifications, reviews submittals, coordinates project submission, communicates with clients.
  • Coordinates the preparation of advanced multi-discipline drawing sets as required for the assigned project.
  • Promotes, utilizes, and supports quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors and omissions.
  • Reviews and coordinates technical staff work prior to submission.
  • Researches and understands code compliance requirements for assigned project.
  • Independently creates simple standard details that might be required for a project under the guidance of the supervisor.
  • Assists with and performs design calculations, calculates quantities, reviews technical specifications, and prepares cost estimates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a Technical discipline preferred.
  • Ten (10) + years of Architectural experience.
  • N/A for Licensure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong desire to expand knowledge base and undertake new responsibilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivating and able to mentor others.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch-Up, Photoshop and other related software programs.
