About the position

As a Senior Associate Front End Application Engineer at Discover, you will collaborate with product designers and user experience experts to enhance the customer experience on discover.com. This role involves developing user-friendly features, managing risks, and contributing to the overall product design and functionality. You will also engage in agile practices and support production systems, ensuring a seamless experience for users.

Responsibilities

• Complete most features and user stories including test cases and automation unattended.
• Learn more complex software engineering practices such as domain driven design, test driven development, operations, and security.
• Contribute to agile ceremonies, lead demos and presentations, help new engineers learn established norms, and participate in technology communities.
• Participate in system design decisions and learn how these decisions impact the product as a whole.
• Learn to support production systems and understand how observed events and failures impact the product.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 1+ years of experience in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related fields.
• Internal applicants must have a technical proficiency rating of advanced beginner on the Dreyfus engineering scale.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with React Native (or React JS), Redux, and Frontend application frameworks.
• Experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience as part of an Agile engineering or development team.
• Good understanding of object-oriented principles with an ability to write clean code.
• Understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
