About the position

The Senior Associate, Automation Engineering role at Pfizer is crucial for managing manufacturing information systems to enhance manufacturing success rates and ensure zero downtime. This position involves contributing to project completion, managing time effectively, and developing plans for projects while leading small teams. The role requires strong communication skills to explain complex issues and establish consensus among teams, ultimately supporting Pfizer's mission to deliver medicines efficiently to patients worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the completion of projects and manage own time on agreed targets.
  • Develop plans for own projects and lead small project teams.
  • Monitor, generate, and complete the periodic review and validation master plan for the automation engineering program.
  • Demonstrate good planning, organizing, time management, and team participation skills.
  • Responsible for routine and preventive maintenance work to ensure equipment and facilities operate safely and reliably.
  • Generate and develop standard operating procedures and system support.
  • Analyze operational process problems and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
  • Manage change control authoring and execution.
  • Participate in site and network-wide teams to provide cybersecurity alignment and direction.
  • Provide after-hour on-call support for automation systems and perform automation activities for capital and non-capital projects.
  • Modify moderately complex to highly complex control logic requiring scientific and/or manufacturing process expertise.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff and serve as a technical trainer.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 8 years of relevant experience, or an associate's degree with 6 years of experience, or a bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of experience, or a master's degree with more than 1 year of experience.
  • Experience in Automation Engineering.
  • Experience with Delta V and/or Allen Bradley PLC.
  • Experience writing software test plans, user requirements, and system design documents.
  • Experience on Automation Compliance projects.
  • Familiarity with process controls equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of Computerized Systems, Compliance regulations, and standards.
  • Teamwork spirit, good communication skills, and training abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills (written and oral).

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant pharmaceutical experience.
  • Understanding of programming and proficiency in at least one programming language.
