About the position

As a Senior Associate I in Accounting at JLL, you will play a crucial role in shaping the financial landscape of our real estate portfolio. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about accounting and have a keen interest in the real estate sector. You will be responsible for preparing financial statements for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all financial reporting. Your expertise will be essential in managing the month-end close process, conducting variance reviews, and supporting audits. You will utilize your knowledge of real estate accounting software to streamline processes and enhance reporting efficiency. In this role, you will prepare monthly property financial statements for a portfolio of 4 to 6 properties, adhering to deadlines established by Client Accounting Services and external clients. Your responsibilities will also include preparing additional schedules to support account balances and meet specific owner requirements. You will be tasked with submitting financial statements and work papers in a reviewable format, ensuring all documentation is complete and submitted within the required time frame. Cash management will be a key aspect of your role, as you will be responsible for reconciling bank statements on a timely basis and following up on outstanding checks and reconciling items monthly. You will maintain a thorough understanding of mortgage and management agreements for your assigned properties, and assist property managers in responding to tenant and owner requests for financial information. Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements for a portfolio of properties, including General Ledger month-end close, actual to budget variance review, audits, and knowledge of real estate accounting software
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly property financial statements for a 4 to 6 property portfolio by deadlines established within Client Accounting Services and by external Client
  • Prepare additional schedules, which are required to support account balances or are specifically required by owners
  • Submit financial statements and work papers in reviewable form (including documentation) and within the proper time frame for review
  • Responsible for cash management of assigned properties
  • Ensure that all bank statements are reconciled on a timely basis and follow-up on all outstanding checks and reconciling items monthly
  • Maintain a working knowledge of mortgage agreements and management agreements for assigned properties
  • Assist property manager in responding to tenant and owner requests for financial information

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 3 - 5 years accounting experience required; real estate a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, organizational skills
  • Demonstrated consistency in values, principles and work ethic
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency with a strong understanding of Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and proficient time management, ability to multi-task and the ability to excel in a fast paced environment
