About the position
The Sr Associate Product Engineer at Hubbell Power Systems is responsible for the design and development of new products, maintenance of existing product lines, and product testing. This role focuses on creating customer solutions for the Utility markets, including Communications, Power, Cable TV, and OEM, with the goal of enhancing sales and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Oversee existing and new product designs and development, including R&D, concept generation/evaluation, costing, manufacturing process, and material selection.
- Maintain product lines through cost reductions, drawing updates, engineering change requests, and collaboration with various departments such as Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, and QA.
- Design, test, and document product variations needed for specific customer demands.
- Support mechanical and/or electrical testing to qualify or validate product performance.
- Collaborate with the Product Manager to understand industry needs and define necessary product line additions to gain market share.
- Assist the Product Manager in addressing customer application needs/questions, which may include customer training on proper product application/installation.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
- CAD experience with the ability to build, review, and revise 3D models and drawings.
- Knowledge of metal and plastic manufacturing processes.
- SAP experience preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to provide analytics and critical thinking for existing products and new product development (NPD).
- Willingness to take a practical front-line approach to problem-solving.
