About the position

The Sr Automation/MES Engineer position at Saint-Gobain in Malvern, Pennsylvania, is focused on supporting the digital transformation and sustainability initiatives for CertainTeed Roofing products in North America. This role requires strong technical and communication skills to manage local factory operational technology (OT), SCADA/MES, and automation manufacturing infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate with IT Digital in Manufacturing teams and factory personnel to develop standards, support projects, maintain systems, and provide technical support, ensuring the quality and performance of automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support the digital transformation and sustainability initiatives in manufacturing for CertainTeed Roofing products.
  • Manage local factory operational technology (OT) and SCADA/MES systems.
  • Develop and implement automation and controls standards and obsolescence programs.
  • Troubleshoot production PAC/PLC systems, VFD and servo drive systems, and HMI systems.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and industrial network schematics.
  • Perform security updates and maintain backup and recovery plans for SCADA/MES systems.
  • Document local MES&A platforms and support performance data analysis to improve equipment uptime.
  • Coach and assess competencies in automation and MES roles.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of industrial MES and automation experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering Technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell SE, Ignition, or similar MES applications.
  • Experience with PAC/PLC platforms, particularly Rockwell product suites.
  • Familiarity with SAP data flows for Manufacturing and Warehouse systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial networks and SQL databases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
  • Strong teamwork, mentoring, and coaching skills.
  • Excellent communication and change management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Server platforms and network troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of DMZ Firewall architecture.
  • Experience in capital and process improvement budgeting.
