The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on development, manufacturing, and operation of satellite systems to address one of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space mobility. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will develop mixed signal electrical circuitry and integrate our innovative Optical Communications Terminal enabling flexible high-data rate deep space optical communication links for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of development, manufacturing, and operation of satellite systems to address one of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space mobility. Responsibilities

  • Develop mixed signal electrical circuitry for satellite systems.
  • Integrate Optical Communications Terminal for high-data rate deep space communication links.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers on satellite system development and manufacturing.
  • Apply technical expertise and leadership skills to ensure quality and safety in human spaceflight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Understanding in electronics hardware development such as developing sophisticated circuit cards, consumer electronics, or aerospace products.
  • Experience designing analog, high-speed digital, or mixed-signal circuits, including analysis, simulation, test, problem-solving, and part selection.
  • Knowledge of signal-integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles.
  • Experience with SoC or Processor/FPGA boards with multiple power domains and clocks.
  • Experience with high-speed serial bus design and optimization.
  • Experience with schematic-capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer or Cadence OrCAD / Cadence Allegro tool suites.
  • Familiarity with parts such as ADCs, DACs, OpAmps, power supplies, microcontrollers, and memory types.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related fields.
  • 10+ years of experience in design, development, and test (8+ years with Masters).
  • Experience developing for software-defined radios or modems.
  • Understanding of industry-standard communication protocols including Ethernet, IEEE 1588, and NTP v.4.
  • Experience leading efforts in collaboration with multi-functional teams for qualification of commercial-grade parts for space environments.
  • Familiarity with space hardware testing standards and practices.
