This position is part of the Space Systems Development (SSD) business unit, which develops next-generation concepts and systems to advance our future of living and working in space sustainably. As a member of the SSD Formulation team, you will be part of a multidisciplinary group covering various domains including power systems, simulation and environments, thermal and fluids management, guidance, navigation, and control (GNC), autonomy, command and control, data handling and instrumentation, electrical integration and avionics, propulsion, and Artificial Intelligence. Your key responsibility will be to deploy this team to serve various projects, studies, and programs in a rapid formulation design environment. You will also contribute technically as an individual contributor, sharing your expertise in avionics software systems design and development. In this role, you will help lead assignments in a dynamic environment that employs a fast-paced agile process to rapidly address early formulation work through a series of three-week sprints. Success in this position requires a commitment to a culture of bias for action while quickly delivering results. The decisions made early on will set Blue Origin up for long-term success, and you must be comfortable with ambiguity and able to find a path forward. As our Avionics Software Architect, you will be responsible for designing and guiding the development of sophisticated avionics software systems for space applications. This includes supporting proposals and prototype development while incorporating the latest advancements in AI to enhance system capabilities. You will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams, bringing a strategic vision and expertise in avionics architecture, software engineering, and AI to design systems for the next generation of spacecraft and satellites.
