About the position

The Sr. AWS Architect position at Cognizant is a remote role aimed at experienced professionals with a strong background in cloud data solutions. The role focuses on designing, building, and operationalizing data solutions using AWS services, while ensuring compliance with IT security and legal protocols. The ideal candidate will leverage their extensive experience in data engineering and analytics to optimize data pipelines and contribute to enterprise-level architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Understand business requirements and existing system designs, enterprise applications, IT security guidelines, and legal protocols.
  • Design, build, and operationalize data solutions and applications using AWS data and analytics services in combination with third-party tools.
  • Participate in optimization and performance tuning of data ingestion and SQL processes.
  • Design and build production data pipelines from ingestion to consumption within a big data architecture using Java, Python, or Scala.
  • Implement data engineering, ingestion, and curation functions on AWS cloud using AWS native or custom programming.
  • Analyze, rearchitect, and replatform on-premises data warehouses to data platforms on AWS cloud using AWS or third-party services.
  • Implement security and version controls.
  • Assist data engineers in crafting ETL processes, conducting code reviews, and facilitating information exchange.

Requirements

  • 12 to 15 years of experience in AWS and enterprise data warehousing projects/ETL.
  • Clear understanding of data warehousing and data lake concepts.
  • Experience in data modeling and collaboration with other teams within projects.
  • Proven experience in data modeling & analysis, data migration strategy, and data governance.
  • Ability to assist in making technology choices in an enterprise architecture scenario.
  • Working experience in different database environments/applications like OLTP and OLAP.
  • Knowledge of basic AWS services like S3, EC2, and experience with AWS Athena, Glue, PySpark, EMR, and Redshift.
  • Hands-on experience with Redshift implementation.
  • Ability to explain data lake architecture using AWS services.
  • In-depth knowledge of the AWS well-architected framework.
  • Good programming skills using scripting languages (e.g., Python).
  • Experience with at least one ETL tool.
  • Excellent client interfacing and interpersonal skills.

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.
  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification.
