About the position

The Sr. AWS Cloud SME role involves designing and managing tools for the global AWS Public Cloud, aimed at improving cloud maturity and enabling best practices for a large engineering team. The position focuses on building resilient cloud-native applications, ensuring security and compliance, and reducing time to market. The ideal candidate will engage in daily coding, collaboration, and continuous learning to adapt to the evolving cloud landscape.

Responsibilities

• Build tools that govern and manage the global AWS Public Cloud.
• Improve overall cloud maturity and help teams build resilient cloud-native applications.
• Deliver a secure and compliant cloud offering.
• Reduce time to market for cloud solutions.
• Participate in daily scrums to discuss responsibilities and challenges.
• Collaborate with team members to realize the roadmap and learn from each other.
• Mentor colleagues and assist teams in troubleshooting production issues.
• Investigate open-source communities for best practices in cloud technology.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least ten years of recent experience as a hands-on architect/engineer in the public cloud space.
• Strong coding experience with Terraform and Python.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Git/GitOps.
• Experience with cloud-native solutions and automation toolsets.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with AWS CDK and Cloud Formation.
• Knowledge of modern cloud governance and observability practices.
