About the position

Apex Systems is seeking a motivated and skilled Sr Azure Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position will manage all enterprise systems, physical and virtual server infrastructure, storage and infrastructure application systems in both Cloud and On-Premises environments as part of a team. This includes VMware, Microsoft and third-party tools to include Azure DevOps with tasks required to support cross-functional development teams and business community. The role involves integrating strategic priorities into a Requirements Traceability Matrix and participating in system life cycle development, which includes configuration and change management, participation in configuration control boards, processing change requests, and coordinating with technical support organizations. The engineer will provide technical implementation using industry best practices and perform system administration, maintenance, and sustainment engineering for development, testing, and production environments. Additionally, the engineer will implement problem resolution including system troubleshooting and requirements and software analysis throughout the system life cycle. Responsibilities also include maintaining operational activity logs, monitoring system performance, applying operating systems and software updates, and ensuring security posture through patching and maintenance. The engineer will troubleshoot and resolve system issues, provide well-thought-out technical solutions, and manage classified, unclassified, and cloud computing networks. The position requires configuration, support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Windows servers within an Active Directory environment, as well as Linux servers. The engineer will manage user accounts, groups, and rights within Microsoft Active Directory, and oversee DNS, DHCP, WINS, VPN, IIS, and FTP services. Documentation is also a key aspect of the role, including maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Lifecycle Management Plans, Installation and Support Guides, After Action Reports, and Disaster Recovery Plans.

Responsibilities

  • Manage classified, unclassified, and cloud computing networks.
  • Configure, support, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows servers in an Active Directory environment.
  • Configure, support, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers.
  • Manage user accounts, groups, and rights within Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Manage Microsoft Group Policy within a Microsoft Active Directory environment.
  • Oversee DNS, DHCP, WINS, VPN, IIS, and FTP services.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, maintain, and troubleshoot licensing of various applications.
  • Maintain documentation including SOPs, Lifecycle Management Plans, and Disaster Recovery Plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in system administration.
  • Highly proficient with cloud computing platforms, preferably Azure and AWS.
  • Proficient with Active Directory, Group Policy, and account management procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as teamwork abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Must possess an Active Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Must be local to the National Capital Region (NCR).
