About the position

The Sr. Azure Data Lakehouse Engineer position is a long-term role focused on developing and optimizing Azure data lakehouses. The engineer will work extensively with Azure technologies, including Synapse notebooks, Azure SQL, and the Microsoft Power Platform, to enhance data integration and performance. This role involves assessing existing products, consulting on optimization strategies, and influencing architectural decisions to create high-performance data environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Azure data lakehouses using Synapse notebooks written in Python.
  • Assess existing products and provide consulting on performance optimization strategies.
  • Integrate new data sources into the data lakehouse.
  • Influence architectural decisions for high-performance data environments.
  • Design and implement data lakehouse ecosystems and integrate data from various sources.
  • Develop ELT data integration processes using Azure Synapse.
  • Utilize Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure SQL, and Data Factory for data management.
  • Facilitate self-service analytics for business users using Power BI and Power Automate.
  • Guide and mentor a team of data engineers and developers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in data engineering and development, specializing in Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Azure SQL, and Python.
  • Proficient in designing and implementing data lakehouse ecosystems and integrating data from various sources.
  • Extensive experience using Python for Synapse notebooks and data transformation.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric and the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI and Power Automate.
  • Expertise in Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure SQL, and Data Factory.
  • Skilled in using Azure Synapse to develop ELT data integration processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python for data transformation and automation in Synapse notebooks.
  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes with the capability to design efficient data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security best practices, and performance optimization strategies in Azure environments.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, capable of guiding a team of data engineers and developers.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities, with experience in cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, focused on delivering practical and scalable solutions.
