About the position
As a Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer at Utah Valley University, you will play a crucial role in enhancing data-driven decision-making across the institution. This position involves designing, developing, and supporting vital data and BI applications, including ETL workflows, data warehouses, and optimized database structures. Your expertise will be instrumental in transforming complex data environments into clear, actionable insights, enabling stakeholders to make informed decisions that contribute to the university's success.
Responsibilities
- Lead moving data from ingestion layers into defined, documented domains/data marts and/or warehouses.
- Evaluate existing data systems and work with the development team to create conceptual data models and data flows.
- Develop bespoke databases/warehouses/marts utilizing a mixture of conceptual, physical, and logical models as appropriate.
- Document and design data processes, including ERD diagrams and definition verification, in accordance with UVU's Data Governance processes.
- Coach, train, and guide team members through UVU's Governance processes and contribute to a culture of professionalism and personal development.
- Stay updated with current trends in the BI Engineering space to help UVU adapt and lead in those trends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- At least 5 industry certifications related to the tools used in the job are required or must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's degree preferred.
