About the position

The Senior Biostatistician/Epidemiologist position at ManTech involves supporting epidemiologic research and operational policy initiatives aimed at enhancing warfighter readiness and informing medical policies. The role requires collaboration with a diverse team to deliver analytical insights to various Department of Defense stakeholders, primarily at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. This fully remote position emphasizes advanced statistical analysis, study design, and mentorship of junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead advanced statistical analyses and modeling of administrative and medical data.
  • Participate in design, plan, execute and validate large-scale epidemiological studies.
  • Design and plan methodologies to address project-specific needs, including study planning and statistical analysis.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify relevant data sources and support the creation of analytic datasets.
  • Apply epidemiologic expertise to interpret results and write various knowledge products.
  • Train and mentor junior staff in SAS programming and study design.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to develop innovative strategies and solutions.
  • Participate in research collaborations across multiple agencies and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • PhD in statistics with 5+ years of experience in health/medical research, or MS in statistics with 10+ years of experience.
  • Thorough understanding of statistical modeling and ability to justify chosen methods.
  • Expertise in programming using SAS software.
  • Ability to interpret and apply statistical techniques and assist junior staff.
  • Solid knowledge of epidemiologic study design and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of public health and research principles.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with predictive analytics and machine learning solutions.
  • Experience with creating innovative visualizations for data insights.
  • Clinical operations exposure, particularly with EHR/EMR systems.
  • Prior service or understanding of the U.S. military and military health systems.
