About the position

The Senior Building Application Engineer is responsible for creating control databases, user interfaces, and setting up control systems based on project specifications. This role involves performing field startup and system commissioning tasks, providing technical support to installers and customers, and mentoring team members in their areas of expertise. The position requires a strong understanding of building automation controls and the ability to deliver training and support to end users.

Responsibilities

  • Create programming logic using flow diagrams and sequences of operation based on project specifications.
  • Program control applications using various software tools for operator workstations and DDC field panels.
  • Install software and control programs on-site and remotely.
  • Conduct system checkout, commissioning, and testing of control applications to ensure proper operation.
  • Develop system user interfaces according to project specifications.
  • Provide technical support to installers and customers both on-site and remotely.
  • Act as a technical liaison between owners and construction managers.
  • Deliver end user training for the installed system.
  • Perform advanced system analysis and diagnostics to restore systems to proper operation.
  • Coordinate system installation with contractors at job sites.
  • Conduct final walkthroughs with owners and construction managers to ensure project completion.
  • Complete assigned projects and submit weekly timesheets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical or Software Engineering, or two years' experience in Building Automation Controls, Sales, or Project Management.
  • Minimum two years' experience in Building Automation Controls, Sales, or Account/Project Management.
  • Proficient understanding of controls and HVAC systems terminology.
  • Thorough knowledge of Windows-based computers and applications like MS-Word and MS-Excel.
  • Proficient in programming tools and communication networks, especially Tridium Niagara.
  • Ability to read BAS and MEP drawings to ensure compatibility with programming.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional attitude and appearance.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to mentor and develop others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Google Drive and its applications.
  • Expert knowledge in Niagara 4 Software, DGLux5 Software, Distech Controls Software, API Protocols, BACnet Protocol, Modbus Protocol, Lon Protocol, IT Networking, Commissioning, and Troubleshooting.
