About the position

The Senior Business Analyst will play a crucial role in the Finance Transformation team at Pacific Life, focusing on analyzing and designing processes for Finance and Actuarial functions. This position involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including Actuaries, Finance professionals, and IT experts, to support key initiatives and enhance business solutions. The role is pivotal in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions, ensuring effective communication and implementation of strategies that drive innovation and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to medium-to-large initiatives by conceptualizing complex business problems and translating business objectives into actionable solutions.
  • Gather and analyze business requirements, industry best practices, and technical information to design and support IT solutions.
  • Act as a cross-functional liaison between Finance and Actuarial teams, understanding their interrelated data requirements.
  • Document business requirements and serve as the liaison between business and technology for new solutions or enhancements.
  • Collaborate with all levels of business and technology teams to understand strategies, challenges, and organizational relationships.
  • Partner with technology teams to ensure business strategies and operational expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Analyze complex business processes to identify improvements and develop solution design approaches.
  • Lead or participate in building business capability roadmaps and process improvements.
  • Perform Fit/Gap Analysis and document functional design specifications and business requirements.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to build automated testing capabilities and lead User Acceptance Testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or IT related field; master's in business or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in business analysis or related fields.
  • Exposure to Finance and/or Actuarial disciplines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Visio.
  • Experience implementing and/or supporting ERP and/or EPM applications, preferably cloud-based.
  • Experience supporting business analytics and/or data visualization projects.
  • Experience documenting business, functional, and technical requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and solid written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work with and understand data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Finance and/or Actuarial background.
  • Exposure to Snowflake.
  • Experience with Tableau, PowerBI, or other visualization tools.
