About the position

The Senior Business Enablement Manager at WaFd Bank will lead a dedicated team focused on transforming data into a strategic asset. This role involves overseeing data governance initiatives, enhancing data literacy, and collaborating with various stakeholders to improve data quality and business processes. The position is pivotal in shaping the data strategy and ensuring that data initiatives align with organizational objectives, ultimately driving innovation and exceptional customer experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, manage, and mentor a strong team of data professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Establish and collaboratively lead a data governance program ensuring data consistency, integrity, quality, and security.
  • Partner with business units to identify and prioritize inefficient business processes and implement improvements.
  • Collaborate with business units to identify data quality improvement opportunities and lead initiatives to remediate bad data.
  • Promote data literacy and culture across the organization by organizing workshops and training sessions.
  • Adhere to applicable laws and regulations regarding data privacy and protection.
  • Create and manage documentation, policies, and procedures necessary to enforce standards and communicate best practices.
  • Stay current with regulations, best practices, tools, trends, and new technologies to continuously improve operations.
  • Commit to a collaborative mindset and perform other duties as needed in support of the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, data management, information systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or business process engineering.
  • At least 3 years in a managerial role leading technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles and data governance practices.
  • Proficient in SQL and experienced with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Familiarity with big data cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Data Warehouse).
  • Experience with data integration and ETL tools (e.g., AWS DMS, SSIS, MuleSoft, Talend).
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fintech or a financial institution.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Experience with data catalog and lineage software (e.g., Talend, Alation, Informatica).
