About the position

The Senior Business Enablement Manager at WaFd Bank will lead a team focused on transforming data into a strategic asset. This role involves overseeing data governance initiatives, improving data literacy, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance data quality and business processes. The manager will report directly to the Chief Data Officer and will play a crucial role in shaping the data strategy of the organization, ensuring that data initiatives align with business objectives and deliver value.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, manage, and mentor a team of data professionals, fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Establish and lead a data governance program to ensure data consistency, integrity, quality, and security.
  • Partner with business units to identify and improve inefficient processes that lead to data issues.
  • Collaborate with business units to identify data quality improvement opportunities and lead remediation initiatives.
  • Promote data literacy and culture across the organization through workshops and training sessions.
  • Adhere to laws and regulations regarding data privacy and protection, ensuring compliance with bank policies.
  • Create and manage documentation and procedures to enforce standards and communicate best practices.
  • Stay current with regulations and best practices to continuously improve operational efficiencies.
  • Commit to a collaborative mindset and perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, data management, information systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or business process engineering.
  • At least 3 years in a managerial role leading technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles and data governance practices.
  • Proficient in SQL and experienced with relational databases like SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL.
  • Familiarity with data integration and ETL tools such as AWS DMS, SSIS, MuleSoft, Talend.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fintech or a financial institution is a significant advantage.
  • Experience with data catalog and lineage software such as Talend, Alation, or Informatica.
