About the position

The Sr. Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst role is pivotal in identifying business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs within the organization. Individuals in this position collaborate closely with clients and IT teams to transform data into critical information and knowledge that can facilitate sound business decisions. A deep understanding of the business is essential, enabling BI Analysts to identify and address critical issues effectively. They are responsible for providing accurate, congruent, and reliable data, ensuring that information is readily available for users, whether for direct consumption or integration with other systems. Furthermore, BI Analysts play a crucial role in educating and training clients on how to utilize data as an analytical tool, presenting information in innovative forms and content to enhance analysis and exploration of options. In their day-to-day responsibilities, BI Analysts engage with clients to ascertain business requirements and priorities, define key performance indicators (KPIs), and develop strategies for business intelligence and data lakes. This involves collaborating with business and development teams to design and document dashboards, alerts, and reports. They are accountable for leading initiatives that facilitate information gathering, structured documentation, and the presentation of findings to management at all levels. Conducting analyses of functional business processes and requirements is also a key aspect of their role, as is participating in the development of business cases to support process changes or IT projects. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of how data is transformed into information and knowledge, which in turn supports key business processes. BI Analysts must delve into the foundational aspects of data elements to create meaningful information, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and collaboration. The position also involves significant technical responsibilities, including SQL design and implementation, business intelligence and data analysis, and data architecture, governance, and quality management. BI Analysts are expected to lead small cross-functional project teams, provide guidance on best practices, and mentor others within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to determine business requirements and priorities, define key performance indicators (KPI), and develop BI and data lake strategies.
  • Collaborate with business and development teams to design and document dashboards, alerts, and reports.
  • Provide leadership and independent initiatives in facilitating information gathering, structured documentation, and presentation of findings to management.
  • Conduct analyses of functional business processes and requirements, participating in the development of business cases for process changes or IT projects.
  • Implement, maintain, and enhance ELT solutions to meet data quality, availability, and performance requirements.
  • Develop methods for integrating different data sources and analyze complex data on target systems.
  • Perform data analysis, produce data samples/prototypes, and generate ad-hoc reports.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for advanced data analytics to add value to business processes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including specifications, data flows, and data dictionaries.
  • Maintain and implement robust data governance methodologies and data quality frameworks.
  • Lead small cross-functional project teams and provide guidance on effective analytics solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Management, Mathematics, Economics, or Statistics).
  • Master's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Technical expertise in data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative analysis with a passion for delivering actionable insights.
  • Experience in architecting, designing, and developing BI and analytical reporting solutions using standard BI tools.
  • Proficient in creating technical specifications and project documentation, translating functional requirements into detailed technical requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in problem-solving, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and priority setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Incorta, ETL tools, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SQL; Python and/or R preferred.
  • Knowledge of ROLAP/MOLAP/OLTP architecture preferred.
  • Experience in managing multiple data groups and users simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated innovative thinking and strong analytic skills.
  • Strong time management skills.

  • Experience with advanced statistical analysis techniques.
