About the position

The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer at the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) plays a crucial role in leading the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of organizational data sets and reports. This position involves collaborating with various departments to create dashboards that meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders, ultimately contributing to LAHSA's mission of addressing homelessness in LA County. Responsibilities

• Lead the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of organizational data sets and reports.
• Build and update dashboards in Tableau, ensuring full functionality and responsiveness to change requests.
• Curate and maintain datasets, ensuring documented procedures for data access.
• Analyze business requirements and functional specifications for technical implementation.
• Serve as an expert in homeless service data, providing insights and support to the Data Infrastructure team.
• Compile and update documentation for all datasets, dashboards, and processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather reporting and dashboard requirements.
• Communicate with stakeholders to anticipate their technical and programmatic needs.
• Provide technical assistance and cross-training to team members.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in business operations and processes.

Requirements

• BA/BS in data science, business administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Intermediate or advanced knowledge of T-SQL, SSRS, SSIS, SQL Server Data Tools, and SQL Server Management Studio.
• Experience with SSBI tools, preferably Tableau.
• Knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS).
• Programming/scripting experience and knowledge of data/system analysis.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with code testing best practices and methodologies.
• Knowledge of data modeling and data warehousing concepts.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Public Policy, Social Work, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Experience working with homeless service providers or other social service providers.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Knowledge of SSAS, HMIS, CHAMP, Looker preferred.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
