About the position

The Business Intelligence Developer III role at YNHHS is a senior position focused on delivering high-quality technical solutions and guidance to junior developers within the Joint Data Analytics Team (JDAT). This role involves leading priority projects, overseeing junior analysts, and acting as a subject matter expert in various technologies and Epic data models. The position requires strong database management skills and the ability to handle multiple assignments with competing priorities while maintaining professionalism at all organizational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Application & dashboard development, including specification gathering, programming, validation, user testing, and maintenance.
  • Design relational and dimensional data models in collaboration with data architects to ensure they meet use cases.
  • Foster departmental growth through education and knowledge transfer, sharing information proactively with team members.
  • Lead subject matter teams by overseeing work requirements and ensuring they are met.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding the performance of Business Intelligence Developer I & II.
  • Understand workflow options in both Epic and departmental contexts to inform application build specifications.
  • Follow system standards for workflow analysis, system specs generation, proof of concept validation, system configuration, application testing, change control, training, and implementations.
  • Oversee potential system enhancements from Epic and user enhancement requests.
  • Participate in the development and documentation of internal procedures.
  • Coordinate and interact with vendors, both on and off-site.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the 'I Am Yale-New Haven' service excellence program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; B.S. in an IT-related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8 years of work experience in an IT-related role, preferably in a clinical setting with an emphasis on IT functions.
  • Epic Certification in a Clarity or application model required.
  • High-level experience in database management and development, including relational database querying using SQL.
  • Business intelligence experience with tools such as Tableau, SAP Web Intelligence, and SAP Crystal Reports.
  • Expert-level understanding of Microsoft scripting languages and other object-oriented programming languages.
  • Knowledge of networking and web technologies, with experience in GitHub or other source control systems.
  • ETL skills using SSIS or scripted tasks for complex tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable speaking to large groups or audiences.
  • Ability to work independently while overseeing the work of others.
  • High engagement in teamwork and team growth activities.
