About the position

The Sr. Business Intelligence Developer at Berkley Re is a pivotal role responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions that empower the organization to make informed, data-driven decisions. This position requires a deep understanding of data analysis and the ability to work with complex data sets to identify trends and create data models that facilitate efficient reporting and analysis. The developer will collaborate closely with both end users and technical teams to gather and understand business requirements, ensuring that the solutions developed align with the strategic goals of the company. Key responsibilities include collecting and maintaining business intelligence requirements, developing and implementing solutions using the Microsoft technology stack, which includes SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and Power BI. The role also involves optimizing and standardizing the business intelligence solutions employed at Berkley Re, ensuring that they are efficient and effective in meeting the needs of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders and translate business needs into technical specifications. This position is critical in supporting Berkley Re's mission to provide innovative reinsurance solutions that foster profitable growth and financial stability. The successful candidate will leverage over 50 years of institutional knowledge in specialty underwriting and prudent capital management to deliver high-quality business intelligence solutions that enhance decision-making processes across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and maintain business intelligence requirements.
  • Develop and implement Business Intelligence Solutions using Microsoft technology stack (SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI).
  • Communicate with end users and technical teams to understand business requirements.
  • Optimize and standardize Business Intelligence solutions employed at Berkley Re.

Requirements

  • Four-year undergraduate degree (minimum).
  • 2+ years working in insurance or reinsurance related IT occupation.
  • 2+ years development experience using Microsoft Technology Stack (SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, and Power BI).
  • Thorough knowledge of SQL server and Transact SQL.
  • Understanding of data modeling and data schemas (normalization, denormalization, flat, star, and snowflake).
  • Knowledge of query performance and query optimization techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of cloud-based solutions is an added plus.
