About the position

The Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) role at Amazon Publisher Monetization (APM) focuses on establishing scalable analytics solutions to drive long-term growth for advertising-supported media services. The position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to generate actionable metrics, automate analytics processes, and support decision-making through data insights. This entrepreneurial role is part of a pioneering team that is building analytics capabilities from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product team to understand business requirements and implement solutions to support product plans.
  • Design, develop and maintain scalable, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, and dashboards enabling stakeholders to manage the business and make effective decisions.
  • Implement training and documentation solutions that enable stakeholders to maximize the use of self-serve analytics tools.
  • Develop and support analytical technologies that provide customers with timely, flexible, and structured access to their data.
  • Define, develop and maintain critical business and operational reports reviewed on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Analyze historical data to extract meaningful insights from large and complex data sets to identify trends and support decision making, including written and verbal presentation of results and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to implement analytics systems and data structures to support large-scale data analysis and delivery of machine learning models.
  • Understand Amazon's data resources, which to use, how, and when.
  • Conduct ad hoc data analysis and data quality investigations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional or military experience
  • 5+ years of SQL experience
  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
  • Experience with AWS technologies
  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills
  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
  • Experience in Ad tech/ Media/ Telco industry

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
