About the position

As a Business Intelligence Engineer at Amazon, you will serve as a strategic analytics partner, working closely with product managers, data scientists, and economists. Your primary responsibility will be to generate highly visible metrics, dashboards, and strategy documents that provide data-driven insights to support critical decisions made by senior leadership. You will be instrumental in driving automation initiatives to scale analytics capabilities, ensuring that both business and technical teams can meet their evolving needs effectively. This role offers a unique opportunity to be a force multiplier by mentoring other Business Intelligence Engineers (BIEs) and Data Engineers within your team. Being part of an entrepreneurial team that is just getting started, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the analytics strategy and driving multi-year roadmaps that align with Amazon Ads's vision. A successful candidate will possess a passion for data and analytics, along with experience working with BI/Analytics tools. You should be comfortable accessing and working with data from multiple sources and collaborating with internal stakeholders to drive informed business decisions. Your deep knowledge of BI solutions, coupled with excellent statistical and analytical abilities, will enable you to work effectively with technology, product development, and business teams. In this fast-paced and ever-changing environment, you will need to be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, and possess strong attention to detail. Your desire to innovate will be a key driver in your success in this role. You will design, develop, and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, and dashboards that empower stakeholders to manage the business and make effective decisions. Additionally, you will drive data-driven decision-making through compelling narratives that seamlessly integrate data analysis, visualizations, and statistical insights. Your responsibilities will also include working with Product Managers to understand business requirements and implement solutions that support product plans, conducting ad hoc data analysis and data quality investigations, and implementing training and documentation solutions that enable stakeholders to maximize the use of self-serve analytics tools. You will develop and support analytical technologies that provide customers with timely, flexible, and structured access to their data, while defining, developing, and maintaining critical business and operational reports reviewed on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Furthermore, you will analyze historical data to extract meaningful insights from large and complex data sets, identify trends, and support decision-making, including presenting results and recommendations both in written and verbal formats. Collaboration with software development teams to implement analytics systems and data structures to support large-scale data analysis and the delivery of machine learning models will also be a key aspect of your role, along with understanding Amazon's data resources and their optimal usage.
