About the position

The Sr. Business Operations Manager for AWS Field Experiences (AFX) plays a pivotal role in maximizing AWS's success by delivering industry-leading go-to-market tooling that empowers AWS Field teams to achieve business outcomes and accelerate cloud adoption. This position requires a strategic-minded individual who will collaborate closely with AFX leadership, business, and technical teams to manage various aspects of AFX business operations, including OP1, goals, roadmap, and the rhythm of business mechanisms. The individual will be responsible for driving and advancing business operations in a fast-paced and evolving environment, ensuring that the AFX strategy is effectively built and executed during the OP1 season. This includes defining and managing AFX goals and roadmaps that unify numerous internal and third-party tools, datasets, and insights to support various teams within Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS), including AWS Global Sales, Worldwide Public Sector, Greater China Region, Partner, Professional Services, Training & Certification, and Marketing. In this role, the successful candidate will establish and own the rhythm of the business, which encompasses weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational cycles. They will manage the OP1 process, which includes strategy planning, customer intake and assessment, stakeholder engagement, and the creation and delivery of relevant documentation. The individual will also develop and maintain a single source of truth for organizational goals and roadmaps, highlighting needs for strategic direction, alignment, and clarity. Furthermore, they will proactively define and communicate all standard operating procedures (SOPs), tools, and templates for operational cadences that centralize organizational operations and enable scalable delivery. Collaboration with the community manager and metrics team will be essential to analyze feedback and metrics, identify trends, and drive discussions related to priorities. Additionally, tracking headcount requests and allocations will be part of their responsibilities. A successful candidate will possess experience in managing complex business challenges and driving initiatives in a dynamic environment. They will demonstrate strategic thinking, effective action, and strong analytical skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making. The ability to communicate priorities and work effectively with multiple stakeholders and senior leadership is crucial. Comfort with ambiguity and a passion for solving challenging problems are essential traits. The candidate will be expected to dive deep into data, continually invent, simplify, and improve inefficient processes. Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills, along with attention to detail and the ability to build strong cross-organizational relationships, are key attributes for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and own the rhythm of the business that includes weekly, monthly and quarterly mechanisms and operational cycles.
  • Manage the OP1 process, including strategy planning and definition, customer intake and assessment, stakeholder engagement, and document creation and delivery.
  • Develop and maintain the single source of truth for the organizational goals and roadmap; highlight needs for strategic direction, greater alignment, possible consolidation or additional clarity.
  • Proactively define and communicate all SOP/tools/standard templates for operational cadences that centralize organizational operations and enable delivery at scale.
  • Work closely with community manager and metrics team to analyze feedback and metrics and identify trends. Use this to drive discussions related to priorities.
  • Track headcount requests and allocations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
  • 5+ years experience in technical program, project management, sales or business operations experience
  • 2+ year experience leading large projects in a matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders or in a high-growth environment
  • Highly proficient using project management and analytics software (e.g., MS Office, MS Project, Smartsheet, QuickSight)
  • Bachelors degree
