About the position

The Sr. CAD Designer position is primarily focused on providing CAD CAFM support and supervision. This role involves managing the processes related to the provision of services that pertain to the feasibility studies or standards of the business as required. The designer will oversee the processing, documentation, and tracking of exercises related to feasibility or standards application, exterior design, and signage. A key aspect of this role is to leverage industry knowledge, market insights, codes, client expectations, value engineering, and innovation to enhance service delivery. In this position, the designer will interface directly with clients to develop design solutions, administer reviews, and seek client approvals for all new projects or initiatives. Responsibilities include preparing preliminary plans and budgets, communicating the rationale and status of all standards to project managers, team members, and other stakeholders. The designer will also prepare presentations and training materials for the Project Management team and clients, ensuring that deliverables from design service providers meet client expectations in terms of accuracy and timeliness. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of building components and disciplines, ensuring the currency and accuracy of information related to design services. The designer will assist in value engineering and continuous improvement efforts, create stacking and blocking plans, and provide expertise in reviewing deliverables from third-party suppliers. Additionally, the designer will respond to client inquiries and add value to the client's use of design services by providing design insights and solutions tailored to their needs. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with clients for design solutions and seek approvals for new projects.
  • Prepare preliminary plans and budgets, communicating rationale and status to stakeholders.
  • Prepare presentations and training for the Project Management team and clients.
  • Coordinate with design service providers to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Respond to and report on the status of exercises, ensuring processes are followed and auditable.
  • Understand building components and ensure accuracy of design service information.
  • Create stacking and blocking plans and space plans.
  • Provide expertise in reviewing third-party deliverables and support change processes.
  • Respond to client inquiries and provide design insights and solutions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • AD/CAFM Associate's Degree (AA/AS) preferred.
  • Diploma in Architectural Technology or AutoCAD or equivalent preferred.
  • Designer Diploma or Degree in Interior Design; Minimum four years of related experience.
  • Extensive Corporate and Retail design experience preferred.
  • Prior related experience preferred.
  • CAD/CAFM Architectural Technologist/Interior Designer AATO/ARIDO/DC preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions and correspondence.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to effectively present information to internal departments and large groups.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Knowledge of leases, contracts, construction practices, project management, building codes, and engineering practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • CAD/CAFM MSQL or SQL expertise preferred.
