About the position

The Sr. CAD Designer position is primarily focused on providing CAD CAFM support and supervision. This role involves managing the processes related to the provision of services that pertain to the feasibilities or standards of the business as required. The designer will oversee the processing, documentation, and tracking of exercises related to the application of standards, exterior design, and signage. A key aspect of this role is to leverage industry knowledge, market insights, and client expectations to drive value engineering and innovation in design solutions. In this position, the designer will interface directly with clients to develop design solutions that meet their needs. This includes administering reviews and seeking client approvals for all new projects or initiatives. The designer will also be responsible for preparing preliminary plans and budgets, ensuring that all stakeholders, including Project Managers (PMs) and Team Managers (TMs), are kept informed about the rationale and status of all applicable standards. Additionally, the Sr. CAD Designer will prepare presentations and training materials for the Project Management team and clients, coordinating closely with design service providers to ensure that deliverables are accurate and timely. The role requires a thorough understanding of building components and disciplines, as well as the ability to assist in value engineering and continuous improvement efforts. The designer will create stacking and blocking plans and space plans, provide expertise for reviews of deliverables from third-party suppliers, and respond to client inquiries with design insights and solutions that add value to the client's use of design services.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with clients to develop design solutions.
  • Administer reviews and seek client approvals for new projects or initiatives.
  • Prepare preliminary plans and budgets, communicating rationale and status of standards to stakeholders.
  • Prepare presentations and training for Project Management team and clients.
  • Coordinate with design service providers to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.
  • Respond to and report on the status of exercises as needed, ensuring processes are followed and auditable.
  • Understand building components and disciplines, assisting in value engineering and continuous improvement.
  • Create stacking and blocking plans and space plans.
  • Provide expertise for reviews of deliverables from third-party suppliers.
  • Respond to client inquiries with design insights and solutions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • AD/CAFM Associate's Degree (AA/AS) preferred.
  • Diploma in Architectural Technology or AutoCAD or equivalent preferred.
  • Designer Diploma or Degree in Interior Design; Minimum four years of related experience.
  • Extensive Corporate and Retail design experience preferred.
  • Prior related experience preferred.
  • CAD/CAFM Architectural Technologist/Interior Designer AATO/ARIDO/DC preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.
  • Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Knowledge of leases, contracts, and construction practices, project management, building and municipal codes, engineering practices, structural engineering, signage/way finding, architectural and interior design fields and industries.
  • CAD/CAFM MSQL or SQL expertise preferred.
