About the position

The Sr CAD Designer at Honeywell will serve as the CREO configuration and administrator, focusing on all aspects related to model-based design and the integration of CREO with Windchill. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the design processes are streamlined and effective, contributing to the overall Digital Transformation initiatives within the organization. The selected candidate will collaborate with various partners to document the end-to-end data flow, capability development, and deployment of technologies that support these initiatives. In this position, the designer will act as the advocate for internal and design agency groups, ensuring that best practices are integrated into Digital Transformation efforts, particularly concerning CREO configurations. The role requires providing expertise and counsel in engineering definition requirements related to electronic drawing definitions, supporting procedures, and the use of computer-aided design and engineering tools. The designer will interact with design agencies, suppliers, and internal organizations to maintain synchronization of CREO configurations. Additionally, the Sr CAD Designer will consult with engineering shops, inspection teams, and manufacturing personnel to verify the reliability of design strategies. The role involves recommending and implementing process improvements to enhance technical productivity and effectiveness within the organization. The designer will conduct assigned research or development tasks and work on complex projects, serving as a technical advisor to other designers. This position is critical to team efforts and requires a high degree of independence.

Responsibilities

  • Work on CREO's configuration and administration aspects related to model-based design and CREO's integration with Windchill.
  • Collaborate with partners to document the end-to-end data flow, capability development, and deployment of technologies supporting Digital Transformation.
  • Act as the advocate and voice of internal and design agency designer groups, ensuring best practices are considered in Digital Transformation initiatives.
  • Provide expertise and counsel in engineering definition requirements related to electronic drawing definition, supporting procedures, computer-aided design, and computer-aided engineering tools.
  • Interact with design agencies, suppliers, and internal organizations to keep CREO configurations in sync.
  • Consult with engineering shop, inspection, and manufacturing personnel to verify the reliability of design strategies.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to increase technical productivity and effectiveness within the organization.
  • Conduct assigned research or development and work on complex/difficult projects/tasks.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to other designers.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of experience in design drafting or equivalent experience using CAD computer systems.
  • U.S. Citizenship to obtain US Department of Energy 'Q' level security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ years experience as a CAD Administrator, CREO preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing processes that can affect the design or modify design intent.
  • Demonstrated experience with Model Based Definition within CAD software (CREO, Solidworks), CREO preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a Part-Centric PDM system (Windchill, Solidworks PDM, etc.), Windchill preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computer-aided design tools, advanced design skills, thorough knowledge of procedures and products acquired through technical training and/or a BST or BS degree in an appropriate field or equivalent training and experience.
  • Ability to evaluate and improve methods/processes, recognize alternative project possibilities, and recommend the best choice(s).
  • Demonstrates the ability to implement new technology and ideas at the project level and implement the best design.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to complete projects when adverse situations arise successfully.
  • Ability to use standard mathematical models, as applicable, to predict test results.
  • Ability to understand the scope of technical problems and develop solutions with little or no guidance from others.
