About the position

The Sr. CAD Designer position is primarily focused on providing CAD CAFM support and supervision within the Advisory Segment of the company. This role is essential in managing the processes related to the feasibility and standards of the business, ensuring that all services provided meet the required standards. The designer will be responsible for the processing, documentation, and tracking of various exercises related to feasibility studies, standards application, exterior design, and signage. The position requires a deep understanding of industry standards, market trends, building codes, client expectations, and innovative value engineering practices. In this role, the Sr. CAD Designer will interface directly with clients to develop design solutions that meet their needs. This includes administering reviews and obtaining client approvals for new projects or initiatives. The designer will prepare preliminary plans and budgets, effectively communicating the rationale and status of all standards to project managers, team members, and other stakeholders. Additionally, the designer will create presentations and training materials for the Project Management team and clients, ensuring that all deliverables from design service providers are accurate and timely. The position also involves responding to client inquiries and providing valuable insights into design services. The designer will be expected to create stacking and blocking plans, as well as space plans, while ensuring the accuracy and currency of information related to design services. The role requires a strategic approach to the change process, where the designer will innovate, apply, and educate clients on design solutions that add value to their projects. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the overall objectives of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with clients for design solutions and administer reviews for new projects.
  • Prepare preliminary plans and budgets, communicating rationale and status to stakeholders.
  • Create presentations and training materials for the Project Management team and clients.
  • Coordinate with design service providers to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Respond to client inquiries and provide design insights and solutions.
  • Create stacking and blocking plans and space plans as needed.
  • Ensure processes are followed and are auditable, reporting on the status of exercises as required.
  • Assist in value engineering and continuous improvement of design elements.
  • Review deliverables from third-party suppliers on behalf of clients.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • AD/CAFM Associate's Degree (AA/AS) preferred.
  • Diploma in Architectural Technology or AutoCAD or equivalent preferred.
  • Designer Diploma or Degree in Interior Design; minimum four years of related experience required.
  • Extensive Corporate and Retail design experience preferred.
  • Prior related experience preferred.
  • CAD/CAFM Architectural Technologist/Interior Designer AATO/ARIDO/DC preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions and correspondence.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to effectively present information to internal departments and large groups.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
  • Knowledge of leases, contracts, construction practices, project management, and building codes.

  • CAD/CAFM MSQL or SQL expertise preferred.
