About the position

The Pharmacy Technician III at Mount Carmel is responsible for overseeing the Pyxis machines and assisting pharmacists in ensuring the timely and accurate provision of medications to patients. This role emphasizes a culture of humility and compassion, supporting both colleagues and patients. The technician will perform routine functions under the supervision of a pharmacist, contributing to patient safety and quality initiatives while also engaging in special projects and training new technicians.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Pyxis machines and ensure their proper functioning.
• Assist pharmacists in the timely and accurate provision of medications to patients.
• Perform routine technician functions such as unit dose dispensing, intravenous admixing, inventory control, record keeping, and billing.
• Engage in special projects as assigned by managers.
• Assist with purchasing and developing staffing patterns for other technicians.
• Prioritize work responsibilities and manage assignments effectively.
• Precept and train newly hired technicians.
• Promote evidence-based practice and quality initiatives.

Requirements

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification.
• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program or relevant pharmacy technician experience with expertise in a specific area of pharmacy service.
