About the position

The Senior Certified Payroll Accountant at Black & Veatch is responsible for managing Certified Payroll processes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves training and supporting the Certified Payroll team in using LCPTracker, preparing accurate payroll reports, and coordinating with various departments to meet prevailing wage requirements. The position emphasizes collaboration, problem-solving, and effective communication within a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Certified Payroll Accountants in completing and filing weekly Certified Payroll reports through LCPTracker including Federal form WH-347 and required State and Local forms.
  • Provide LCPTracker training and guidance to Certified Payroll team and Subcontractors.
  • Serve as part of an Advisory team on Certified Payroll and Prevailing Wage to Construction Operations and clients.
  • Research reporting documents that must be submitted when performing work on federal, state and locally funded construction projects.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources and Construction Field Timekeeping to assure accurate information is provided as it applies to the Recording of Time and Prevailing Wage requirements.
  • Work closely with Union Payroll reporting professionals and Field Professionals to assure Work Classifications, Hours worked, Rate of Pay (including fringe benefits), Gross Amounts Earned, and Deductions for Construction Craft are aligned and accurately reported.
  • Research filing requirements including forms and guidance.
  • Assist with additional special projects, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience
  • Typically 4+ years related experience
  • Extensive experience in LCPTracker
  • Knowledge of Federal WH-347 and other State and Local Certified Payroll/Prevailing Wage filing requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of Fringe Benefits and Burdens
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve and deal with ambiguity.
