About the position

The Senior Certified Payroll Accountant at Black & Veatch is responsible for managing Certified Payroll processes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves acting as a Subject Matter Expert for LCPTracker, providing training, and coordinating with various departments to ensure accurate reporting of prevailing wage requirements. The position is integral to the Certified Payroll team, supporting the preparation and filing of payroll reports and maintaining communication with management and other internal clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Certified Payroll processes and reporting.
  • Complete and file weekly Certified Payroll reports through LCPTracker, including Federal form WH-347 and required State and Local forms.
  • Provide training and guidance on LCPTracker to the Certified Payroll team and subcontractors.
  • Serve as an advisory team member on Certified Payroll and Prevailing Wage matters to Construction Operations and clients.
  • Research reporting documents required for federal, state, and locally funded construction projects.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources and Construction Field Timekeeping to ensure accurate time recording and compliance with Prevailing Wage requirements.
  • Maintain close communication with management regarding payroll matters.
  • Collaborate with IT for special reporting needs.
  • Work with Union Payroll reporting professionals to ensure accurate classification and reporting of work hours and pay rates.
  • Ensure proper classification of workers to receive the prevailing wage rate for their job classifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience.
  • Typically 4+ years of related experience.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including background checks and drug screening.

Nice-to-haves

  • Extensive experience in LCPTracker.
  • Knowledge of Federal WH-347 and other State and Local Certified Payroll/Prevailing Wage filing requirements.
  • Understanding of Fringe Benefits and Burdens.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to inform and build peer relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deal with ambiguity.
