About the position

The Sr. Chemical Process Engineer at Nippon Paint Automotive Americas Inc. plays a crucial role in enhancing the plant's economic success through automation, process control, and optimization. This position involves collaboration with various teams to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations while driving innovation and best practices in process engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Manufacturing Representative on various capital projects, providing process and design input throughout project phases.
  • Own, complete, and document Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) reviews and ensure compliance with safety standards as part of the EHS plan.
  • Provide process safety management (PSM), root cause analysis (RCA), and audit support related to process safety.
  • Offer technology expertise for chemicals, leading plant trials and providing technical training on process technology.
  • Collaborate with operations to develop and implement automation solutions to reduce costs and improve production effectiveness.
  • Interface with production, global technology, process safety, engineering, research, and maintenance teams to share and implement best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in chemical engineering or related engineering disciplines.
  • Minimum of 7+ years' experience in the chemical process industry (batch processes) in a PSM environment.
  • PE certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of practical experience in process control and troubleshooting process equipment.
  • Experience in the coatings industry, Autocad/Design, and Automation industry preferred.
  • Previous experience with capital project development and execution, with a strong understanding of process engineering concepts.
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable codes and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, leadership, communication skills, and strong business acumen.

  • Experience in the coatings industry.
  • Familiarity with Autocad/Design tools.
  • Experience in the Automation industry.
