About the position

The Senior Civil Engineer position at the City of Greensboro's Department of Transportation involves significant responsibilities in managing traffic studies, congestion programs, and ensuring compliance with city ordinances through site plan reviews. Responsibilities

  • Administer the City's Traffic Impact Study (TIS) ordinance.
  • Review and maintain the TIS database.
  • Manage the city's congestion management program.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Represent the Greensboro Department of Transportation at board and commission meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 4-6 years of experience in Civil Engineering, or an Associate Degree with 6-8 years of experience.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software for developing detailed design plans and cost estimates.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering site plans, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Engineering Intern Certification by NC Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors or ability to acquire it.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Software 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Valid Driver's License.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the North Carolina Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors or ability to acquire this certification.
  • 4+ years of experience/knowledge of engineering principles and practices using AASHTO Green Book, MUTCD, AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, Highway Capacity Manual, Highway Safety Manual.
  • 4+ years of experience working with Adobe or Bluebeam PDF software.
  • 4+ years of experience working with or knowledge of ArcGIS.
