About the position

The Sr. Civil Engineer / Project Manager at Fleis & VandenBrink is responsible for leading municipal engineering projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables are provided on time and within budget. This role involves managing project teams, developing client relationships, and overseeing the design and construction of various infrastructure projects, including water mains, sewers, and roads. The position emphasizes collaboration, employee development, and maintaining a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Project management and engineering of municipal projects, including design and construction of water main, sanitary and storm sewers, and roads and sidewalks.
  • Oversight of related studies such as water reliability studies and feasibility studies.
  • Manage preliminary and final design and construction phase services for municipal projects.
  • Perform technical analysis and documentation.
  • Determine and monitor project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Supervise and develop project team members, including goal setting, problem solving, coaching, and career guidance.
  • Manage and coordinate pursuits with the Business Development team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and MI PE registration.
  • 10+ years of related experience is desired.
  • Experience with MDOT LAP preliminary and construction engineering is a plus.
  • Experience with the study, planning, design, and project management of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, transportation projects, including funding agency coordination and project permitting.
  • Municipal project construction administration and field review experience; construction management experience is also desirable.
  • Experience in client management, preparing and meeting budgets and schedules.
  • Experience in relationship development and proposal preparation.
  • Knowledgeable in municipal, township, and county government practices and regulations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
