About the position

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Sr. Civil Engineer to join our team in the Ft. Collins, CO office. This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer to contribute to a variety of civil engineering projects focused on private owners/developers and municipal clients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and managing land development projects that are cost-effective, sustainable, and visually appealing. As part of a collaborative team, you will work closely with other disciplines within Farnsworth Group, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and effectively from inception through to construction completion. In this role, you will communicate regularly with clients to discuss current and future projects, ensuring that their needs are met and expectations exceeded. You will also organize and complete projects, attend and facilitate client stakeholder meetings, and delegate design tasks to junior engineers and designers. Mentoring and training student interns and entry-level engineers will be a key part of your responsibilities, fostering the next generation of civil engineers. Additionally, you will prepare project proposals, budgets, and schedules, and attend city planning and zoning meetings as well as city council meetings to advocate for your projects. To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and 6 to 12 years of relevant experience. A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado is required, along with experience in managing private owner/developer projects and municipal projects. Strong communication skills, the ability to manage clients and design teams effectively, and experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D are essential. Familiarity with water, wastewater, and stormwater modeling is a plus. Farnsworth Group values teamwork and seeks a strong team player who can manage multiple design tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design and manage a variety of private owner/developer driven civil engineering land development and municipal projects.
  • Collaborate with other Farnsworth Group disciplines.
  • Communicate with clients regarding current and future projects.
  • Organize and complete projects from inception and through entitlements and construction completion.
  • Attend and facilitate client stakeholder meetings.
  • Delegate design tasks to junior level engineers and designers.
  • Mentor and train student-interns and entry level engineers.
  • Prepare project proposals, budgets, and schedules.
  • Attend city planning & zoning meetings and city council meetings.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • 6 - 12 years of civil engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Licensed in Colorado
  • Experience working on private owner/developer projects and municipal projects
  • Ability to effectively manage clients and design teams
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with multi-discipline teams
  • Strong team player that can manage projects and multi-task design work
  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience required
  • Water, wastewater, and stormwater modeling experience is a plus
  • Strong communication skills
