The Sr. Civil/Structural Engineer position at a growing A&E consulting firm in Akron, Ohio, involves advanced design responsibilities for complex load-bearing structures, including buildings, platforms, and pipe racks. The engineer will participate in the analysis of building materials proposed for construction, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary codes and standards. This role requires the development of blueprints and specification packages, which include scopes of work for bidding and construction submittals. Additionally, the engineer will investigate and determine the causes of structural failures, damages, and defects through site investigations and research, providing comprehensive reports that summarize their findings. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and be a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E). With a minimum of 12 years of experience in civil/structural engineering, particularly in industrial structural design, the candidate must demonstrate proficiency in using STAAD and AutoCAD. Familiarity with additional engineering or drafting software such as Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, RISA, and Tekla Tedds is considered a plus. The role demands advanced knowledge of building codes and the ability to prepare and review designs to ensure compliance with engineering standards, constructability, and industry practices. Candidates should be self-motivated and willing to occasionally take on lead engineering duties. Experience in the advanced design of steel structures, foundations, masonry, and concrete is essential, along with knowledge in industrial service areas such as Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Polymers, Utility, Energy, and Manufacturing. The position may require occasional travel, both locally and out-of-state, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines is crucial. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for this role, as candidates will be expected to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
