About the position

The Senior Civil Structural Engineer will be an individual contributor with comprehensive knowledge and the ability to execute highly complex or specialized projects. This role requires the engineer to adapt to precedents and may involve making significant departures from traditional approaches to develop innovative solutions. The engineer will support civil and structural design activities, which include creating calculations in the area of structural steel or concrete design. Additionally, the engineer will address technical issues related to the fabrication, assembly, and construction phases of civil/structural projects. This includes providing technical justification for design changes and troubleshooting emergent technical issues as they arise. On-site support at various utilities and smaller projects will be required when necessary. The engineer will gain familiarity with analytical tools such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, and GTSTRUDL, and will aid in the maintenance of software compliance records and the closure of engineering corrective actions. It is essential for the engineer to become familiar with applicable industry civil/structural codes and standards, such as ACI, AISC, and AWS, as well as company policies and procedures. The role also involves developing engineering sketches and markups using AutoCAD or similar CAD programs.

Responsibilities

  • Support civil/structural design activities including calculation creation for structural steel or concrete design.
  • Address technical issues related to fabrication, assembly, and construction phases of civil/structural projects.
  • Provide technical justification for design changes and troubleshoot emergent technical issues.
  • Provide on-site support at various utilities and smaller projects as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience required, typically 8-10 years of experience preferred.
  • FE certification is a plus.
