About The Position

The Sr. Cloud Architect will be part of the Cloud Architecture and Administration team, focusing on fostering cloud adoption and supporting cloud technologies. This role requires extensive experience in cloud administration, particularly with AWS GovCloud and Azure platforms, and involves designing, deploying, and migrating secure systems across various cloud service models. The position is hybrid, requiring onsite presence in Washington DC four days a month, and candidates must be U.S. citizens able to pass a federal background check.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in technology, with 5 years focused on cloud technologies.
  • Proficiency in administering AWS GovCloud and/or Azure cloud service platforms.
  • Experience with software development lifecycles (SDLCs) including DevOps, Agile, and Waterfall.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based architectures, web servers, and load balancers.
  • Experience with RESTful Web Services, XML, or JSON.
  • Familiarity with government cloud deployments (FedRAMP, FISMA).
  • Ability to design and implement cloud architectures for various use cases.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in high-level programming languages such as Python or PowerShell.
  • Experience with AWS or Azure component management.
  • Experience designing cloud architectures for analytics and machine learning.
  • Familiarity with the Well Architected Framework.
  • Experience in managing ADConnect sync and customization of sync rules.
  • Understanding of Azure AD management and Conditional Access rules.

Responsibilities

  • Administer AWS GovCloud and/or Azure cloud service platforms.
  • Design, deploy, and migrate secure and maintainable systems for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.
  • Develop software according to various software development lifecycles (SDLCs) including DevOps and Agile.
  • Implement DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization for cloud deployment.
  • Transition legacy systems to cloud-ready architecture.
  • Optimize cloud solutions for cost effectiveness and manage cloud vendor cost structures.
  • Apply cloud federation technologies such as SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect to applications.
  • Ensure compliance with cloud information security best practices in secure operating environments.
