About the position

The Sr. Cloud Data Platform Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure on AWS and Google Cloud Platform. This position focuses on building fault-tolerant, secure, and high-performance data platforms to meet the growing needs of data and analytics. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure best practices are followed and that data security is maintained throughout the data lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure on AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
• Build scalability, fault-tolerance, security, and performance into data platforms.
• Configure and optimize networking components for high performance, availability, and security.
• Collaborate with data engineering, data science teams, and analytical business users to ensure best practices and high-quality code implementation.
• Partner with Information Security, Application Security, Data Center Services, and Cloud Infrastructure Services teams to ensure data security.
• Keep data platforms current to leverage the latest features and support.
• Communicate status of assigned work to management and adhere to agile practices, standard procedures, and policies.
• Seek guidance when needed and address identified technology risks.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on expertise in troubleshooting logs and optimizing system performance.
• Deep understanding of Cloud and data security in AWS or Google Cloud.
• Good experience with networking, Linux and Unix OS, and shell scripting.
• Demonstrated aptitude for identifying underlying issues in Cloud services such as Glue, Lambda, Big Query, and Cloud Functions.
• Good experience with Cloud platforms AWS and/or Google Cloud in supporting Data pipelines and integrations.
• Experience with Cloud Automations using Cloud Formation or Terraform.
• Good understanding of network infrastructures and protocols such as TCP/IP, TLS.
• Familiarity with data integration from different sources into Big Data systems is preferable.
• Familiarity with SQL and programming languages such as Python, Spark, YAML, Bash.
• Cloud Certification in Dev Ops in AWS or Google Cloud is a plus.
