About the position

The Sr. Cloud Developer will join the Fraud Services Team of a Fortune 100 Credit Union to design and implement a new technical solution for real-time fraud detection using the Confluent Kafka framework. This role involves collaboration with principal engineers and other technical team members to build scalable real-time event processing applications in Azure, following agile delivery practices. The developer will also support functional and performance testing, ensuring adherence to security and enterprise standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and build highly scalable applications for real-time ingestion and processing of various events.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to educate team members on development and operations of streaming and event-driven applications.
• Identify potential issues and risks during project implementation and suggest mitigation strategies.
• Prepare technical documentation for use by the Fraud team and other external teams.

Requirements

• 12+ years in software development.
• 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting solutions in the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
• Experience with message-oriented middleware/streaming data technologies such as Kafka, MQ, or Azure Event Hub, with expertise in Confluent Kafka.
• Strong programming skills in Java; C#/.NET experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in Azure Functions and Durable Functions using various protocols and triggers.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Logic Apps.
• Experience configuring Azure Event Hub, Event Grid, and related resources.
• Expertise in cloud NoSQL databases, ideally Azure Data Services or Cosmos DB.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of FeatureSpace ARIC Risk Hub platform.
• Experience working on fraud detection efforts in the financial industry.
