About the position

The Senior Cloud Engineer role at SHI involves designing, implementing, and managing scalable cloud architectures primarily on Azure and AWS platforms. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and automation within cloud environments, while also providing mentorship to junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure in Azure and AWS environments
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates
  • Monitor cloud performance, perform capacity planning, and ensure system stability and scalability
  • Implement best security, governance, and compliance practices across cloud environments
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to cloud infrastructure, including network, compute, and storage problems
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, helping develop their technical skills and cloud expertise
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into cloud solutions
  • Stay updated on the latest cloud trends, services, and best practices to ensure optimal use of cloud platforms

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with at least 3 years working with AWS and Azure
  • Strong experience designing and deploying cloud architecture, including microservices, serverless computing, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Proficient in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform
  • Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., VPN, VPC, DNS, and load balancing)
  • Familiarity with security best practices, such as identity management, encryption, and key management
  • Experience with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or Datadog
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are a plus

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automation
  • Proficiency with scripting languages like Python or PowerShell
  • Experience with multi-cloud management and hybrid cloud architectures
