About the position

We seek an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer with a strong Azure and AWS platform background. This role involves designing, implementing, and managing scalable, high-performance cloud architectures. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and automation within our cloud environments. This position is required to report to the SHI Somerset NJ and SHI Austin office location as determined by SHI management.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure in Azure and AWS environments
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates
  • Monitor cloud performance, perform capacity planning, and ensure system stability and scalability
  • Implement best security, governance, and compliance practices across cloud environments
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to cloud infrastructure, including network, compute, and storage problems
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, helping develop their technical skills and cloud expertise
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into cloud solutions
  • Stay updated on the latest cloud trends, services, and best practices to ensure optimal use of cloud platforms

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with at least 3 years working with AWS and Azure
  • Strong experience designing and deploying cloud architecture, including microservices, serverless computing, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Proficient in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform
  • Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., VPN, VPC, DNS, and load balancing)
  • Familiarity with security best practices, such as identity management, encryption, and key management
  • Experience with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or Datadog

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automation
  • Proficiency with scripting languages like Python or PowerShell
  • Experience with multi-cloud management and hybrid cloud architectures
