About the position

As a Sr. Cloud Engineer at FNBO, you will be instrumental in driving the delivery of top-tier cloud solutions on the AWS platform. Your role will involve utilizing cloud-based technologies to modernize infrastructure, automate services, and migrate workloads to the cloud. You will collaborate closely with software development teams to streamline and automate release management pipelines, ensuring that FNBO's cloud computing strategy is effectively implemented and that IT transformation efforts are successful. In this position, you will leverage industry best practices to develop and maintain a resilient, secure, scalable, and efficient cloud-hosted platform. Your responsibilities will include providing recommendations for cloud design and infrastructure, automating deployment pipelines, and implementing tools that enable self-service capabilities for building and maintaining cloud infrastructure. You will also utilize technologies such as Terraform and Ansible to enhance process efficiency and reliability. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying and addressing cloud infrastructure deficiencies and performance bottlenecks using observability platforms like Dynatrace. You will troubleshoot production issues, respond to escalations, and collaborate with various teams to provide clear technical guidance. Additionally, you will take a lead role in technical projects, mentor other team members, and create documentation to share knowledge across the organization. Your participation in community practices and your ability to follow emerging industry trends will help FNBO stay at the forefront of cloud technology.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes industry best practices to continuously develop and maintain a resilient, secure, scalable, and efficient cloud-hosted platform.
  • Provide recommendations for cloud design, infrastructure design, software development design/architecture, application frameworks, and/or interfaces.
  • Automate and evolve the pipelines to continuously integrate and deploy code (CI/CD).
  • Implement tools and automation to provide self-service capabilities to the organization for building, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring cloud-based infrastructure and cloud platform services.
  • Leverage technologies (such as Terraform and Ansible) and scripting languages to build automations to enhance the efficiency and reliability of processes.
  • Leverage the observability platform (Dynatrace) to identify and address cloud infrastructure deficiencies, availability gaps, performance bottlenecks, and improve mean time to resolution (MTTR).
  • Troubleshoot production issues and respond to after-hours escalations.
  • Collaborate with peer organizations, product delivery teams, and support organizations to provide guidance on technical matters in a clear, concise, and easily understood manner.
  • Take a lead role on technical projects and serve as a technical mentor to other members of the Cloud Operations team.
  • Create and deliver documentation and presentations to developers and operations teams to share knowledge (Architecture diagrams, system flows, run books, procedures, etc.).
  • Actively participate in community of practices and demonstrate expertise with cloud computing technologies.
  • Follow emerging industry trends and build proof of concepts to evaluate current cloud technologies, concepts, designs, and provide new recommendations.
  • Periodically lead the testing and maintenance of the disaster recovery plan for our hybrid multi-cloud environment.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of engineering experience on a major cloud platform (AWS preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience with server administration (Linux preferred), networking or infrastructure required
  • Experience with AWS services: Networking: VPC / Subnets / Route Tables / VPG / Security Groups; Compute: EC2 / AutoScaling / Load Balancers; Database: RDS / Aurora / DynamoDB; Other: SQS / SNS / S3 / IAM / EKS / CloudWatch / CloudFront / Kinesis / Lambda
  • Advanced experience with Infrastructure and Application Monitoring concepts
  • Advanced experience administering Kubernetes clusters.
  • A strong background in scripting and/or programming languages (BASH, Perl, Ruby, Python, YAML, Java, etc.)
  • 8+ years of relevant, broad engineering experience is required
  • Cloud certifications from the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Advanced knowledge in designing & implementing infrastructure-as-a-code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, and GitLab.
  • Advanced knowledge of containerization technologies such as EKS, Docker, and Pivotal Cloud Foundry
  • Advanced knowledge of networking, firewalls, load balancers etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of private cloud and hybrid cloud configurations required
  • Knowledge of ITSM delivery
