About the position

The Sr. Cloud Solutions Engineer is responsible for designing and engineering enterprise information technology systems within the company. This role focuses on improving existing software systems, synthesizing data, and increasing workplace productivity while balancing complex project aspects such as security, architecture, and system dynamics. The engineer will collaborate with various departments to deliver scalable and robust business capabilities, staying current with industry trends and making recommendations for new technologies that provide strategic business value.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and engineers solutions that align with architecture patterns and security guidelines for data, compute, and technology platforms.
  • Works in partnership with business product owners and DevSecOps to design, engineer, and deliver mature scalable and robust business capabilities.
  • Collaborates with IT architecture and IT operations to identify and implement optimal engineering solutions for the company.
  • Leads engineering and planning initiatives related to capabilities, future roadmaps, operations, and strategic planning.
  • Designs and engineers business and technology innovation that drives the organization's top and bottom lines.
  • Stays current with industry trends, making recommendations of new technologies that deliver strategic business value and reduce costs.
  • Designs and engineers architecture solutions that maximize reuse and are efficient, maintainable, scalable, stable, highly available, portable, secure, and implemented correctly.
  • Provides engineering consulting services within the domain to help achieve desired business and operational outcomes across Jackson.
  • Designs and engineers the service management processes for maintaining the technology platforms in production.
  • Promotes quality by performing code reviews, developing and enforcing coding standards, recognizing system deficiencies, and implementing effective solutions coaching other team members in this domain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent education or experience required.
  • 5+ years related IT experience required.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Cloud ecosystem.
  • Strong scripting skills in a system automation language such as bash, Perl, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Experience integrating CI/CD tools into pipelines, such as build automation tooling, Git based code repositories, artifact and library repositories and code deployment tools.
  • Experience designing and integrating Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) tools.
  • Experience engineering network infrastructure using concepts such as Zero Trust networks, Software defined networking, network peering and Network Security Groups (NSGs).
  • Demonstrated record of successful, complex project completion with minimal supervision including skills in design, requirement gathering, project planning, prioritization, coordination, multi-tasking, and problem solving.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications in public cloud technologies preferred.
  • 3+ years in IT infrastructure/operations role preferred.
  • At least one current certification in public cloud technologies including: Azure Developer/Administrator/Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, and/or OpenStack Administrator Certification preferred.
  • CISSP Preferred.
