About the position

The Sr. Cloud Technical Account Manager (TAM) at AWS is a pivotal role focused on providing strategic technical guidance and advocacy to enterprise customers. This position is not sales-oriented but emphasizes building strong relationships with clients to help them maximize their use of AWS services. The TAM acts as the principal technical advisor, ensuring customers' AWS environments are operationally healthy and aligned with best practices. The role involves collaborating with engineers and service teams to resolve issues and proactively drive customer adoption of AWS technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal technical advisor and advocate for enterprise customers.
  • Provide strategic technical guidance to help plan and build solutions using AWS best practices.
  • Work proactively to drive customer adoption and use of AWS services.
  • Collaborate with engineers and service teams to resolve customer issues.
  • Engage with senior leadership to discuss incidents, trade-offs, support, and risk management.
  • Maintain close relationships with customers to understand their business needs and technical challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, or related discipline, and 5+ years of equivalent work experience or 7+ years of related work experience.
  • 5+ years of technical engineering experience.
  • Experience in Information Technology operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework pillars and their application to customer architecture.
  • Internal enterprise or external customer-facing experience as a technical lead.
  • Experience applying technical or operational expertise to solve complex challenges.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills, especially in presentations to executive audiences.
  • Experience building resilient, secure, cost-effective, and performant systems.
  • Experience in a 24x7 operational services or support environment.
  • Experience with AWS services and/or other cloud offerings.
  • Experience mentoring others.
