About the position

The Sr CNC Programmer - Mastercam position is a critical role within a rapidly growing machine shop that specializes in producing complex composite and metal parts for the NASCAR and aerospace industries. The role involves utilizing advanced CAM software, particularly Mastercam, to create and modify CNC programs, ensuring efficiency and adherence to GD&T requirements. The programmer will also collaborate with engineers and other programmers, mentor new staff, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the production process.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize CAM software to produce and modify CNC programs for increased efficiency while meeting GD&T requirements.
  • Employ program verification and crash protection software to prevent machine incidents.
  • Use drawings or CAD models to support program development.
  • Create, document, and back-up all programs.
  • Maintain set-up sheets and tool lists for projects in Mastercam.
  • Collaborate with engineering personnel to enhance quality and efficiency of parts, patterns, molds, and fixtures.
  • Train and mentor new hires and current operators.
  • Prioritize programming tasks according to scheduled demands.
  • Assist the manager in tracking production work on the shop floor.
  • Coordinate bonding of upcoming or current jobs.
  • Record time and materials to Work Orders, including daily balancing.
  • Feed stock and tool inventory levels to the Machining Department Manager.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Suggest improvements to processes continuously.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Mastercam and Catia CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience working with various metals and composites.
  • Familiarity with mold making processes.
  • Strong communication skills for effective coordination with programmers and engineers.
