About the position

The Sr. CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, modifying, and documenting programs for multi-axis CNC machines, utilizing software such as Mastercam. This role involves ensuring precision in machining processes, analyzing technical drawings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance program effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Write or modify advanced close tolerance programs for CNC machines.
• Analyze drawings, sketches, blueprints, and schematics to determine dimensions and configurations of cuts.
• Determine the sequence of machine operations and select proper cutting tools.
• Document reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
• Write machine instructions to regulate movement along cutting paths.
• Create instruction sheets and cutter lists for machine setup and operation.
• Revise programs to eliminate errors and retest for effectiveness.
• Operate machines to test program effectiveness as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure program effectiveness.
• Observe machine operation to troubleshoot machining issues.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 10 years of Mastercam programming experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience preferred.
• Experience with Mastercam programming software preferred.
• Knowledge of alloys and metals such as Inconel, titanium, and stainless steel.
• Knowledge of Fanuc and Mitsubishi controllers.
• Knowledge of CAD software.
• Knowledge of computer systems for programming.
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT).
• Ability to understand and follow standard operating and safety procedures.
• Ability to prioritize and handle workflow effectively.
• Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
