About the position

The Sr Community Outreach & Development Manager at the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) plays a pivotal role in enhancing the organization's impact in Connecticut. This position is designed for a self-starter who is passionate about kidney health and is committed to driving growth through effective community outreach and fundraising initiatives. The manager will work closely with the Executive Director and the Sr. Director of Development and Communications to execute a variety of fundraising events and program activities that align with NKF's mission. The role requires a blend of strategic planning, event management, and relationship building with corporate sponsors, health partners, individual donors, and volunteers. In this capacity, the manager will be responsible for organizing and overseeing all aspects of Connecticut-based special events, such as the Honors Reception, CT Kidney Walk, and Drives for Dialysis. This includes managing logistics, securing venues, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that each event meets its revenue goals. Additionally, the manager will cultivate and steward relationships with existing and potential donors, capturing patient stories and growing a network of advocates and volunteers in the region. The position also involves programmatic responsibilities, where the manager will liaise with health partners and the regional Medical Advisory Board to implement both virtual and in-person programs. The successful candidate will be expected to develop content for marketing and communications, support the Executive Director in managing board members, and perform additional duties as required. This role is integral to NKF's mission of enhancing lives through action, education, and accelerating change in kidney health.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key liaison for NKF in Connecticut, executing local fundraising events and program activities.
  • Organize all aspects of CT-based special events, including logistics, vendor management, and contract negotiations.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and manage corporate sponsorship opportunities for various initiatives and events.
  • Steward existing and new individual donors, patients, and community partners to support revenue and advocacy efforts.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers for fundraising and programmatic activities.
  • Capture and develop content for marketing and communications calendar and newsletter.
  • Support the Executive Director in managing Medical Advisory Board members and organizing meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 3-5 years of non-profit, fundraising, and/or sales experience, preferably with a non-profit or health agency.
  • Experience in special events planning and managing peer-to-peer fundraisers.
  • Proficient in CRM and Project/Event Management Systems (Salesforce, Classy, Slack, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Self-starter able to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Strong collaboration skills and flexibility with different ways to work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Customer service experience, specifically with corporate sponsors/partners.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish proficiency.
  • Understanding of social media, storytelling, and content development.
