This role is crucial in creating and maintaining effective compensation programs that not only attract but also retain top talent. The Compensation Business Partner will work closely with HR Partners and line management to address compensation-related inquiries, ensuring that our compensation programs align with the business's needs and strategies. The successful candidate will participate in the design, development, implementation, and administration of compensation policies and procedures. This includes leading the evaluation and analysis of annual processes such as geozones, salary structures, and market pricing. The role also involves managing the annual merit process, collaborating with HRIS on system updates, and serving as a resource for Talent Management regarding compensation issues for job offers. Additionally, the Compensation Business Partner will conduct annual market studies to validate and recommend changes to existing compensation ranges and structures, ensuring internal equity and external competitiveness. Staying informed about legal and market changes that could impact HNTB's compensation programs is essential. The Compensation Business Partner will act as an advisor to the compensation team and HR on Workday transactions, processing complex changes and providing guidance as needed. This position may also involve leading special compensation-related projects, depending on their size and complexity. Overall, this role is integral to maintaining the integrity of HNTB's compensation programs and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a compensation business partner, consulting with HR Partners and line management on compensation-related questions and concerns.
  • Complete job evaluations for positions below the executive level in partnership with HR Partners and the business.
  • Lead the evaluation and analysis of annual processes including geozones, salary structure, and market pricing.
  • Manage the annual merit process, including tools preparation, timeline, training, communications, and implementation.
  • Collaborate with HRIS on system updates related to compensation programs.
  • Provide resources to Talent Management for compensation issues related to job offers for external candidates and internal employees below the executive level.
  • Complete annual market studies to validate and recommend changes to existing compensation ranges/structures, geographic differentials, new graduate rates, and merit budgets.
  • Prepare and deliver education and communication on compensation programs tailored to the audience and business need.
  • Research and monitor FLSA compliance, engaging HR and the business and conducting audits if applicable.
  • Provide compensation analysis and equity reviews to ensure internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance of pay practices.
  • Stay abreast of legal or market changes that could impact the competitiveness or compliance of HNTB Compensation programs and make recommendations for changes as applicable.
  • Act as an advisor to the compensation team and HR on Workday transactions, processing complex changes and providing guidance on appropriate action items.
  • Lead or assist Compensation Manager on special compensation-related projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 6 years of compensation/HR analytical related experience, or 10 years of compensation/HR analytical related experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated success in Compensation serving as a business partner to multiple clients.
  • Strong analytical, judgment, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work successfully and deliver in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
  • Superior multi-tasking ability, attention to detail, and process-driven focus.
  • Strong Excel skills required.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6 years' experience administering compensation programs including managing jobs, market pricing, salary structure, and compensation analysis.
